About Us

The Oklahoma Structural Engineering Association (OSEA) is an incorporated non-profit structural engineering organization in the state of Oklahoma that is dedicated to promoting the structural engineering profession in our state. OSEA is a member of the National Council of Engineering Associations (NCSEA).  OSEA is the only professional organization exclusively devoted to the representation and advancement of the structural engineer and the structural engineering profession in Oklahoma.  The purposes and goals of OSEA include the following:

  • Develop a consensus on state issues

  • Provide a forum for the transfer and exchange of information among structural engineers

  • Encourage the practice of quality structural engineering among its members

  • Aid in the education of individuals and intuitions by clearly defining the role and function of structural engineers in design and construction processes

  • Direct actions toward the preservation and enhancement of public safety and welfare and the advancement of the structural engineering profession

  • Complement related structural technical organizations yet not attempt to supplant these organizations

  • Promote acquaintance and understanding among structural engineers.

  • Promote technical expertise.

  • Promote legislation and codes relating to structural engineering

  • Increase public awareness of structural engineering

  • Discourage unethical and detrimental practice.

  • Promote high standards of structural engineering in the best interests of clients, community, public, and the profession.

OSEA sponsors workshops, panel discussions, lectures and seminars with the aim of addressing topics of interest and concern to structural engineers.  Our membership, which is over 300 members, includes individuals from most of the major design firms in the state of Oklahoma.

OSEA also reaches out to other professionals, outside of the engineering community, who work in related fields with common interests.  Currently XX% of our membership are affiliate members who come from a variety of disciplines such as geotechnical, civil, construction management, and architecture.

The purpose of OSEA is to advance the art of structural engineering in Oklahoma by improving the flow of ideas and building the community of colleagues.
